GFL Infrastructure Group Inc. (“GFL”, “us”, “we” and “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how GFL collects, uses and discloses personal information obtained in connection with Project Area Tracking Hub (the “Platform”).

What personal information do we collect from you and why?

“Personal information” means any information that can identify you, either on its own or in combination with other information. Except as otherwise specified in this policy, we only collect the personal information you provide to us. Such information may include your name, email address, phone number and physical address. We only use this information for the purpose of:

  • Providing you access to, and use of, the Platform; and
  • To the extent we engage in a transaction with you in connection with the Platform, to facilitate and complete the transaction.

When will we share your personal information with third parties?

Except as set out in this policy, GFL does not disclose your personal information to any third parties. We may, however, share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Affiliates: GFL may share your personal information with other members of our corporate group for the purposes contemplated in this policy.
  • Users: GFL may disclose your personal information to other Users solely for the purpose of facilitating a transaction you have authorized through the Platform.
  • Service Providers: GFL may disclose your personal information to third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. For example, our data hosting provider.
  • Other: In the event of any acquisition or sale of GFL and/or its assets, we may be required to disclose your personal information to a purchasing entity. We may also transfer your personal information in the unlikely event of GFL’s insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership. We reserve the right to disclose your personal information if required or permitted to do so by law.

Where do we process and store your personal information

Some of the parties to whom we may provide your personal information may be located in jurisdictions outside your jurisdiction of residence. For example, we are headquartered in Canada, but we have operations in the United States. As a result, your personal information will be sued, stored and/or accessed in Canada and the United States and possibly other jurisdictions. Please note that when your personal information is located outside of your jurisdiction of residence, it will be subject to the laws of the country in which it is situated, and these jurisdictions may not have an equivalent level of data protection laws as those in jurisdiction of residence.

How do we keep your personal information secure?

We take the protection of your personal information seriously. We employ a range of safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss and theft as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use and modification, including physical, organization and technological measures, commensurate with the sensitivity of your personal information. Our employers have access to your personal information only on a strict need-to-know basis, are trained in the proper handling of such information, and are required to keep such personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which it was provided.

Where we use service providers who might have access to your personal information in order to assist us in offering and administering the Platform, we require them to have privacy and security standards that are comparable to ours. We use contracts and other measures with our service providers to maintain the confidentiality and security of your personal information and to prevent it from being used for any other purpose.

Please be aware that no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. You should also take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, and keeping your log-in and password private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.

How long do we retain your personal information?

We will only retain your personal information as long as is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. Your personal information is securely stored until such time as it is no longer required, after which it is destroyed, rendering it unable to identify you.

What other information do we collect from you and why?

As you use our Platform, we may collect other non-personal information, such as information about how you use our Platform through “cookies” and certain third-party analytics. We use this information to maintain and improve our products, services and technologies.

Cookies: We use “cookies to allow you to sign into your account and to help improve your online experience. A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded to your computer or devise when you visit certain websites. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies.

Third-Party Analytics. We use these tools to obtain aggregated statistical information about the use of the Platform to help us improve our services, performance and user experiences.
